Mid-Level Developer (PHP, MySQL & MVC) – Cheshire – £negotiable

Automation software company, based in Daresbury, is looking for a mid-level back-end developer with PHP, MySQL and MVC skills to join their technical team.

Reporting to the Development Manager, you will be responsible for producing high-quality code and solutions that meet specified requirements and are delivered to schedule. You will work collaboratively with other staff to meet business objectives and contribute to process improvement, wherever possible. You will take pride in your work and share knowledge and solutions for the benefit of the wider development team.

Essential knowledge required:

* 3 to 5 years commercial development experience working on large scale projects and web apps
* Working with PHP-based MVC frameworks such as Codeingiter, Laravel, or similar
* Developing and working with 3rd party API integrations and solutions
* Experience of Automated Testing
* Writing Object-Orientated Code
* Working in an Agile environment
* Strong knowledge of Linux servers, administration and maintenenance
* MySQL or similar (e.g. MS SQL Server, MariaDB)
* Experience of using & building REST services
* HTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries (JQuery, Bootstrap)
* GitHub experience highly desirable
* PHPUnit testing

It would also be advantageous if you had any of the following skills/experience, although none- of these are essential and on-the-job training will be offered:

* MongoDB to an intermediate level
* Experience of working with Amazon Web Services, Digital Ocean
* Exposure to using continuous integration
* SQL Stored Procedures
* Application of software design patterns such as dependency injection or repository, specification or decorator patterns
* Working knowledge of collaborative development tools e.g. Git Linux/Unix command line
* Queuing Software e.g. RabbitMQ / SNS
* Monitoring / Logging e.g. New Relic / Greylog / NetStats
* Server Load sharing

Graphic Designer – Manchester / Stockport – £22-25k

Creative marketing agency is looking to hire a graphic designer to work in-house at their client in Cheadle, South Manchester – with the opportunity to experience both client- and agency-side working in one role! The client is a B2B manufacturing business.

You will be an experienced designer with excellent client-facing skills and comfortable within a corporate environment. Reporting to the agency’s head of design, you will also need to take direction and instructions directly from the client and be ready to get involved in broader marketing requirements as needed. Responsibilities will include:

* Creation of collateral and assisting with measuring and reporting
* Development and execution of campaigns and internal and external communications
* Image database management
* Website updates via CMS
* Updating and shaping content for the company’s Intranet
* Email campaigns via an email platform
* Graphic support for App development

You will be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and have the ability to pro-actively manage your own workload and deadlines. You will be confident in escalating issues, if they arise, to ensure the smooth running of the work going in and out of studio. You will also act as brand guardian to ensure the integrity of the company and the client-agency relationship. At least 2 years’ commercial design experience is required for this role.

Salary £22-25k, depending on experience. Some travel to the agency’s head office (Leeds) may be required. Hours of work are 9am to 5pm (Mon-Fri) and there is both a pension and bonus scheme attached to the role.

Traffic Manager – Manchester – £30-35k (DOE)

PR and communications agency, based in central Manchester is looking for a Traffic Manager, with relevant agency-side experience to join their team in a newly-formed role.

You will have at least 3-4 years’ experience within a similar role within a creative agency environment. You will be exceptionally organised, able to multi-task, calm under pressure and a figure of authority, with experience of managing a studio of at least 7 people. This studio is in its infancy, and is involved predominantly in design and video projects. The agency is now in need of an experienced manager to come in and help them develop processes to filter work through the studio more effectively and efficiently. You will not be involved in any hands-on creative work – you must be someone who is used to organising workloads, managing processes and resources, and helping people stick to deadlines. You will not be responsible for the quality of the work either, so this is a true Traffic role.

To be considered for this role, you will have agency-side experience and be able to ensure that internal processes are adhered to. You will have a strong will, able to ensure that deadlines are met and be able to deal with people and clients who want things ‘now’! You will not be client-facing, although you will deal with almost every team within the agency, so strong communication skills are a must.

Senior Copywriter (Brand and Advertising) – Leeds – £40-55k

Well-respected brand marketing agency, based in central Leeds, is looking for a Senior Copywriter to join their team and help lead the copy output.

This role offers a great deal of variety and creativity. The agency only takes on significant branding projects and they lead the creative process (they rarely work from pre-set guidelines and usually create the guidelines themselves). Working with the creative studio, alongside a team of art directors, designers, artworks and another writer, you will be generating concepts for a wide range of brands (from fashion, consumer, corporate, and anything that falls in between), and also a wide range of tactics (from advertising, to print, to online, video, and even TV occasionally), helping bring your ideas to life by working with the rest of the studio team. In many cases you will be crucial in helping build new brands from scratch and, given your seniority, you will be helping lead the overall creative output.

You will be a truly conceptual Copywriter, with an advertising or design agency background. You will have a creative portfolio that really showcases your talent for both clever straplines and beautifully crafted copy. You will be used to working alongside an art director, as part of a traditional creative team, but also be comfortable working autonomously on a copy-focussed project. You will, naturally, come from an agency-side background, having worked on consumer-facing brands, and be experienced at client-facing communication, and working with the client on creative strategy. You will have an infinity for branding and brand development, able to create the perfect tone of voice and ‘opinion’ for each client. Please note that writers from PR, SEO, content or direct marketing backgrounds will not be considered – this is an advertising writer role and experience of high-end conceptual brand campaigns is a must.

You will be responsible for brand development and homogeny across all touchpoints. You will oversee visual identity, brand experience, copy/tone of voice, packaging, PR, photoshoots, retail marketing/POS and all off-line marketing collateral. It is a wide and varied role, where no two days are the same. One day, you could be working on a bridal brochure, the next working with a large department store, ensuring all seasonal POS is mirrored across concessions. You will keep abreast of trends, competitor analysis and how the high street is changing, to ensure that the brand remains relevant and competitive at all times, while jointly managing the marketing budget for the whole of the group with the Digital Marketing Manager.

To be considered for this role, you must have some commercial experience of fashion or beauty. You must have retail marketing experience (candidates from purely online/ecommerce businesses will not be considered, unfortunately) and understand the pace and the touchpoints involved in the successful marketing of a brand within the retail space. You will have overseen PR and messaging (working with external agencies) and, most of all, will be a creative guardian, able to direct, protect and develop the brand across all customer-facing touchpoints. Finally, you will have a passion for the fashion industry and the trends by which it is inspired.

Reporting into the Design Manager, you will provide creative artwork for client communication projects across a variety of media.
